Q: Is the Xbox One S capable of playing downloaded 4K content through the USB stick? I have played successfully every other resolution through the media player app but I tried a 4K sample and I got a single frame (the single frame IS in 4K resolution) and about 1 second of sound before the app force closed. I read it does not because it doesn’t support codecs for h.265 files (which most 4K videos are) or something like that. Is there any suggestion?
Have the similar confusion on playing 4K on Xbox One S through USB like the above user? In this article, you will give you some hints. Although the Xbox One S is “4K-ready” as advertised, the media player cannot do 4K based on our testing especially the 4K files in H.265 codec.
